The key to success
For LANXESS, 2007 was Asia year
For LANXESS, Asia is one of the keys to success. Growth is particularly driven by the markets in China and India, where revenues have risen at double-digit rates.
Everything was once again set for growth in 2007 as well. And the expectations were fully borne out, as hardly a month went by in which the specialty chemicals firm did not report new developments from Asia. For example,
- At the beginning of 2007, LANXESS set up a separate company to mange its South Korean business.
- In January 2007, a new facility for the production of the rubber chemical Rhenogran went into operation in Madurai, India. LANXESS set up the plant in response to the strong rise in demand for this product by Indian tire manufacturers and other rubber processing companies.
- In March 2007, LANXESS announced the construction of a new plant in Qingdao, China, for the production of lubricant additives. The production facility is scheduled to commence operations at the end of 2008.
- Several locations in China, India and Singapore took part in an international competition for the selection of a site for a new ion exchanger plant in Asia. The site chosen was the Jhagadia Chemical Park in India, which already boasts a good industrial infrastructure.
