LANXESS' part in it

While the firm establishment of RFID is unstoppable, there are technical challenges that still need to be overcome in many areas before the radio chips become a familiar part of our lives. Conventional foil-based RFID transponders (so-called smart labels) often fail to meet the high demands made with regard to range and accuracy. The antennas have particular problems with reliability when they are placed near liquids or metals. A new generation of transponders, in whose development LANXESS played a major role, could offer a solution.

The key here was extensive experience and a special thermoplastic known as Pocan DP T7140 LDS, which was developed by LANXESS. Enriched with metallic compounds and minerals, Pocan DP T7140 LDS has just what it takes to achieve successful metallization.
