After a long, hot and dry summer, it is now here: the cold season, in which daylight is rare. We need artificial light early in the day, on the long evenings at home and of course especially for the festive lighting in the holiday season. A large part of the electricity we need for this is generated in power plants using steam. The high pressure steam is piped through turbines connected to a generator. Regenerative concepts, such as geothermal plants in Iceland, also use steam as the drive medium for the turbines.
