Fewer toxins thanks to LANXESS
Along with their fire-retardant effects, Disflamoll® and Levagard® products also help LANXESS support the automotive industry on the road to a future without toxins and pollutants. Today, consumers and lawmakers are paying attention to more than just the environmentally damaging emissions of cars. Standards for the air inside cars are also constantly rising, as Heiko Tebbe, Senior Manager Application Technology at the LANXESS business unit Rhein Chemie Additives, explains. Fogging, as it is known, is one reason. “Rising temperatures in a car can trigger the emission of substances that coat the window like a lubricant, impairing the driver’s ability to see,” says Tebbe, describing the process. “This quickly brings us back to the issue of automotive safety,” something all automakers are looking to guarantee. “Our halogen-free and low-emission fire retardants are our way of responding to this trend.” As a result, LANXESS is helping not only reduce the emission of toxic substances in vehicles, but is also increasing traffic safety.
